A Legacy of Cryptographic Innovation

Dr. Cammarota brings 20 years of cryptography, privacy, semiconductor design, and advanced hardware architectural expertise to BTQ. For over a decade, he led cryptographic hardware developments. His technological impact spans commercial sector and high-level government research with over 4,000 scholarly citations.

Dr. Cammarota was a Senior Principal Engineer at Intel Labs before taking a position at BTQ. He held the esteemed role of Principal Investigator for the DARPA DPRIVE program, which concentrated on creating accelerated architectures for fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), during that time. Future privacy-preserving computation is thought to be based on this work. He was also a Co-Principal Investigator for the Intel Crypto Frontiers Research Institute and the Intel Private AI Collaborative Research Institute. His work at Intel produced a number of patented ideas and fostered important public-private partnerships to find economic opportunities for cutting-edge cryptographic technologies.

A Qualcomm Senior Staff R&D Hardware Engineer, he has more experience. He oversaw the creation of hardware security architectures for both commercial and governmental uses at Qualcomm, as well as hardware acceleration structures for AI processing. Additionally, Dr. Cammarota has played a significant role in international security and standardization committees, collaborating closely with the Semiconductor Research Corporation, the Wi-Fi Alliance, and the RISC-V Security Standing Committee. As a member of the steering committee for the Trusted and Assured Microelectronics initiative, he also provided his knowledge to the U.S. Department of Defense.

The QCIM Advantage and Strategic Vision

Dr. Cammarota’s main focus at BTQ will be the QCIM platform. To retain security in a post-quantum environment, this post-quantum semiconductor product is made to offer a unique, high-performance method of speeding up cryptographic workloads. It is anticipated that his employment will assist stringent security and cryptography certification efforts, improve BTQ’s core intellectual property (IP), and progress the commercialization path.

Cammarota is “one of the leading minds in cryptographic hardware,” according to Olivier Roussy Newton, CEO of BTQ Technologies, who underlined the significance of this hiring. Newton stated that when BTQ scales QCIM and broadens its global reach, Cammarota’s expertise in advancing complicated hardware products from the research stage to complete commercialization will be “highly valuable”.

Dr. Cammarota himself was upbeat about the company’s future, pointing out that BTQ is in a unique position at the intersection of sophisticated semiconductor design and post-quantum security. According to him, this combination will become a “foundational requirement for next-generation systems” and determine how safe computing develops going forward.

Academic Foundations and Global Reach

A strong academic foundation supports Dr. Cammarota’s technical ability. His M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC Irvine focused on feature characterisation for integrated circuit performance optimization. He continues to work at the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences at UCI as an Associate Researcher. His M.S. in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II serves as more evidence of his global outlook.
